I would like to explore the theme of Industry & Consumerism, I feel like there is potential within this theme to get stuck into a Project that I can relate to and enjoy. There is possibility for a scope into the sports world and I have several rough ideas that I'm eager to expand and develop.
In the present day the world of sports is dominated by the role of advertising, multi national companies are paying an incredible amount of money for their association with teams, leagues and players of a wide variety of sports, most notably football. A team close to my heart has recently pulled away from this trend however by releasing a kit with no sponsor, this is very pleasing to the eye and harks back to the days before shirts were covered in logos etc.
I have an idea that I could document sports fans in the street or homes, clad in their teams kit, inadvertently walking around as a human billboard, and there could be some accompanying text that ignores the club or subject, but details what the companies shown in the images are all about, if they have a particularly favourable reputation or how much they spend to be associated with their clubs.
With a book full of similar portraits there is a risk of repetition and not much flow to the book, I will have to establish a perspective to represent throughout the book that will establish a beginning, middle & end.
